Hit-n-Miss Farm Owner

Kenny Carey

N

ot many people can say they are a 4th generation farmer and have lived their whole life on the same farm as the one who started it all.  I spent my entire working career in public service.  I have always been proud of public service but my heart has always been on the farm.  I was fortunate to be able to retire and spend my days here on our family farm.

Our family farm started as a dairy operation and along the way, things changed and the dairy cattle were replaced with beef cattle.  Now 60 years later, I love being on the farm as much as I did when I was a youngster.  There is something so peaceful about riding around the farm checking cattle or mowing hay that is hard to put into words.  I wouldn’t trade it for any other job in the world.

Volunteering has always come natural for me and I have spent many hours over the years volunteering for numerous organizations.  One that is very close to my heart is the local county fire department which my father and grandfather help start.  I have served on numerous boards over the years and am currently serving on our local Farmers Co-op Board, Farm Bureau, Upper Cumberland Angus Association, local Shooting Sports Park, as well as our local electric board.   Giving back to my community has been very rewarding to me and something I plan to continue to do as long as I am able to serve.
